OGUN LAYS FOUNDATION FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE


Towards ensuring continuous development of skills acquisition among the youths, the Ogun State Government has laid the foundation for the construction of a vocational training centre in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ojere, Abeokuta.

Speaking during the ground breaking, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu expressed satisfaction to the institution for proposing a world class and modern entrepreneurial training centre for the students.

Prof. Arigbabu submitted that the present administration was committed to improving technical and vocational education, which had led to the revatalisation of about eight technical colleges in the State.

“The type of skill acquisition training we are looking at here is in tandem with modern trend. I want to really commend you for this, because what you are doing is in line with the vision of the present administration”, he said.

Speaking, the Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji said the centre would have three number software laboratory, two number mini training centre, one number multimedia laboratory for studio, one number digital and micro device laboratory and one number server security and forensic laboratory, adding that it would make the youth literate and sharpen their skills competence, as well as turn around the economy of the State.

In his presentation, the Project Manager, FUNMIAYINKE Nigeria Limited, the company handling the project, Engr. Adeyemi Samuel said the centre would be delivered in six months’ time.
