The Deputy Minority Whip of Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Abdl-Majid Adesegun Adekoya
has called on Ijebu Sons and Daughters across the globe to come together and unite for the rapid growth of the entire Ijebu Land as he expressed worries about the political calculations of the past Leaders.
Adekoya made this call on Saturday, June 20, 2021 at the Centenary celebration of Ijebu Ode Club where he was honoured along other distinguished sons and daughters of Ijebu land.
He also expressed his displeasure on why only Ijebu Province out of all the Provinces in Nigeria before 1960 has not become a full State on her own while all other old Provinces have become two or more States. He also wondered why non of all the Federal Institutions – University, Polytechnic, College of Education, Federal Medical Center etc was located inside Ijebu Land.
The President of the Club
Barr Adegbenga Ogunba at its centenary celebration commended Honourable Adesegun Adekoya MHR over his unprecedented developmental efforts that are notable in his Federal Constituency – Ijebu North, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside LGs.
Ogunba described Honourable Adekoya who is also the Aremo Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye as a ‘golden fish who has no where to hide’ , saying that he was not surprised when Aremo Adekoya emerged as the overall best of the Federal Lawmakers in Ogun State for the year 2020 / 2021.
The Club President charged him to assist in the physical development of Ijebu Club while assuring the Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives of the Club’s total support and loyalty.
Honourable Adesegun who is the Aremo Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye and Liaison Officer of Ijebu Ode Club Centenary Chief Laison Officer appreciated the President and the entire members of the for the honour done on him and others while promising his total support to the growth and development of the club.
The Royal Grand Patron of the Club, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Land was represented at the occasion by His Royal Highness, Oba Abdl-Rasaq Adesina Adenuga, Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye.
The Ijebu Traditional Council rejoiced with the Ijebu Ode Club, appreciated members for their positive contributions to Ijebu Land as they specifically congratulated and commended the Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon., Adekoya for his giant strides in the National Assembly, expressing confidence in him while urging him to continue with his good deeds beyond 2023. “The Ijebu People are proud of him”, they added.
Other dignitaries honoured included King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, Otunba (Dr.) Ronke Kolade Carew, Otunba Babatunde Shakiru Olufowobi, Hon. Aare Oluwakemi Oduwole, Hon Olufemii Adeleke Ogunbanwo , Hon Alhaji Odusile Abdulwaheed and HRH Oba Michael Adesina, the Olowu of Owu Ijebu, the publisher of Ijebu News Moses Oladipupo and other members of Egbe Bobagunte Akile Ijebu graced the occasion.
