Nigeria Armed Forces, particularly the fallen heroes have been described as the best symbol of Nigeria’s peace, progress and common existence that must be remembered and celebrated.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun stated this at the special Jumat Service to commemorate the 2021-Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.

Represented by his Chief of Staff Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, the Governor said the role of Nigerian Armed Forces cannot be over emphasised at ensuring peace keeping, most especially in the ECOWAS nation, saying, they are force to be reckoned with.

“Our Armed Forces are the protectors of our unity; they protect our internal territory and cohesiveness, particularly now that our Nation is experiencing serious security challenges.

“We should celebrate from time to time, our Armed Forces, the way we celebrate our civil servants, politicians, traditional institution and the media because of their roles in ensuring peaceful atmosphere”, the Governor stated.

Governor Abiodun, while reminding the gathering that the task of nation building ‘’is not an exclusive responsibility of a sector, rather, a collective task’’, called on Civil Servants, media and traditional institutions to keep defending and protecting the nation’s peace and unity.

The Muffassir of Egbaland, Ustaz Taofiq Amolegbe, during his admonition said many of the soldiers in their prime fought for the nation, leaving behind families which he said should also be remembered through prayers and gifts, as they did not wish for their untimely death.

Amolegbe, while reading from Quran Chapter 22 verse 58, said ‘’Nigerian soldiers needed to be appreciated because many are faced with challenges and temptation to compromise their integrity, yet they stood their ground to ensure the nation’s unity and safety’’.

In his remark, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Toafeek Oloyede, appreciated the State government for its support, saying ‘’it gladdens their heart that Nigeria Armed Forces efforts are not in vain’’.
