Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun has said that any market found to be dirty during the festive season risked being closed down by the government.

Hon Abudu-Balogun made this known while monitoring the weekly Ogun State Market Environmental Exercise in Abeokuta, calling on market leaders across the State to ensure their markets were clean for healthy trading, saying government would not fold its hands and watch buying and selling in untidy environment.

The Commissioner added that with the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, cleanliness should be everyone’s watchword, urging traders and buyers to observe social distancing and wear face masks while in the markets.

Responding, the Babaloja of Panseke Market, Alhaj Taorid Amode appreciated government for the weekly market sanitation and its attendant benefits, urging various traders across the State, to trade in clean, tidy and healthy environment before, during and after the festive period.
