A body known as Da Vanguard has described the clamour of some group of people from Yewa for the position of Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) as not only selfish but also retrogressive and wicked.
The group, led by Adewoga Ademola, in a chat with our reporter in Abeokuta today Sunday August 30, 2020 said it was wrong for the people of Yewa to be demanding for the position of Rector of the institution when the incumbent Registrar and Bursar of the same institution are from Yewa.
According to Adewoga, “For equity, it is important to share the available positions in the institution amongst the three Senatorial zones of the state, since Yewa indigenes are currently holding those two principal positions, it is only equitable to allow other zones produce the Rector of the institution”.
The group which comprises members, drawn from the three Senatorial zones of the state, charged the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun to put their position into consideration in the process of appointing a Rector for the institution, if truly he holds on tenaciously to the mantra of “building our future together”.
They stated that it would be political unbalanced, administratively unjustifiable and financially imprudent to have the Rector, Registrar and Bursar of one institution in the hands of people from the same Senatorial zone of the state. “It is wrong to have even the Registrar and Bursar from the same zone, but since they are already occupying the positions, they should just forget about the position of Rector”, he stressed.
Members of Da vanguard said they came together because they believe building the state required the contributions of all, whether in government or not, because according to them, the development or failure of the state would directly or indirectly affect all the people of the state.
They disclosed they believed in the political pursuit and administrative style of Prince Dapo Abiodun, hence their drive to help take development to the nooks and crannies of the state, saying to to attain this goal they were out for fight for the three zones. “Our ultimate goal is to make Ogun state the envy of all other states in Nigeria”, the stressed.
