The Chairman, Transition Committee, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile, has commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, for its efforts in maintaining peace and orderliness during the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Engr. Olugbile gave this commendation while playing host to the Ogun State Commandant of the Corps, Commander Hammed Abodunrin, who paid him a courtesy call in his Itoro office, Ijebu Ode, on Monday.
He thanked the officers and men of the Corps, for their efforts at maintaining peace and orderliness, ensuring compliance with the government laid-down protocols, and providing security support in the distribution of palliatives during the the COVID-19 lockdown.
“The local government and the Civil Defence Corps, are both closer to the grassroot, thereby maintaining peace therein,” stated the Chairman.
Speaking during the visit, the State Commandant, Commander Hammed Abodunrin, who is on a statewide visit to Divisional Commands of the Corps, sought the assistance of the local government on the provision of imprest, operational vehicles and a building that will serve as an armoury to the Corps.
He said the Corps is doing its best towards making sure that people can sleep with their two eyes closed.
He assured the Council’s boss of the Corps continuous support, urging the Chairman to always feel free without hesitation, to call on the Divisional Officers, when such need arises.
The local government according to the Chairman, will do all within its capabilities to support the Corps, as he also promised to make appropriate recommendations to relevant government agencies on their request.
