The immediate past Governor of Oyo State in the South Western part of the Nigerian Nation, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was said to have passed on yesterday but his Spokesman said the news was not true. “He is still alive”, he stated.
The news filled the airspace with friends and political associates, as well as a good number of Nigerians expressing shock and fear over the seemingly unending devastating effects of the dreaded Corona Virus pandemic.
Few minutes later
this was debunked by Bolaji Tunji, the Media Handler of the seasoned Politician and Deputy National Chairman, South West of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It would be recalled Senator Ajimobi who was named Acting Chairman of APC by the party’s National Working Committee after the Appellate court removed Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was, a few days ago reported to be in coma as a result of Corona Virus complications.
Tunji, in a Facebook post, said it was a rumour and enjoined the people to disregard it, nevertheless, he asked people to pray for his boss.
“Kindly disregard all the rumours, just rumours. In all, we remain prayerful”, Tunji pleaded over the state of health of the former Governor who took ill and said to be in a critical condition after testing positive of COVID-19.
Senator Ajimobi remained the first person in history to Govern Oyo State for two terms of 8 years, a feat that earned him the appellation, “Koseleri”.He was succeeded by Engineer Seyi Makinde of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
