Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed his administration’s plan to provide palliatives to 20,000 youths across the twenty Local Government areas of the State.
Prince Abiodun who made this known in Abeokuta, said the initiative to give palliatives to youths across the State was meant for the poor and vulnerable ones among them, saying a thousand youth would be identified from each of the Local Council Areas of the State to make up the 20,000.
“Our promise is that, we will continue to provide for, as many people, as possible. We have decided that our next target is going to our youths because they are also vulnerable, they are not elderly, but many of them are poor and vulnerable. We are going to identify a thousand youths per local government across the twenty local governments, making 20,000 youths and we are going to provide palliatives for them”, he said.
The Governor also disclosed that his government had been able to flatten the curve of the spread of Covid-19 through its emergency operation procedure, incident action plan and with about 300 bed capacity at its isolation centers.
He said, ‘’the state is probably the second state with the highest number of ventilators in the country’’, adding that his administration was able to purchase 11 ventilators, received two from the Redeemed Christian Church of God and met 10 from the facility built by his predecessor.
“We have done as much as we can within our limited resources to be prepared, to contain and flatten the curve of the spread of this virus as best as we can. We used that index case as an opportunity to begin to prepare ourselves, we began by setting up our emergency operation procedure, our incident action plan, we prepared our health officials, we set up our isolation and treatment centers, till date, we have about 300 bed capacity in the state, with 23 ventilators. We must, probably be the state that has the second highest number of ventilators in the country”, he maintained.
