CORONA VIROUS: SCHOOL OF MIDWIFERY TAKES SENSITISATION TO THE MARKET


In an effort to sensitise many more more people, particularly the women about the dreaded Corona virus pandemic, the School Head of Oba Ademola 11 School of Midwifery, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Ajayi Olubukunola yesterday led staff and students on a walk round the capital of the state.

The walk took them to among other places: Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta (FMCA); State Hospital, Ijaiye; Gbangba Market, Iyana Mortuary; Sapon Market and Panseke Market.

According to Mrs Serifat Aminu, Nurse Educator, the key messages of the sensitization walk which is one of the activities lined out by the institution in commemoration and celebration of both Nurses and Midwives by World Health Organisation (WHO) for the year 2020 were: prevention of Corona virus with emphasis on hand washing; promotion of family planning and analyzing the benefits.

Others are: distribution of male condoms; demystifying the myth about some harmful traditional practices such as early marriages, teenage pregnancy, child abuse, female genital mutilation; educating the public about the dangers involved in patronizing the quacks.

Aminu hinted the event with the theme “Midwifery to the World: Building a Healthy Family” would be rounded up Today with a trip to a beach for funfair.
