NLC, AMOSUN FACE OFF ASSUMING DANGEROUS DIMENSIONS

The diatribe between the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led Ogun state Government and the leadership of Labour Congress (NLC) seems to be assuming a dangerous dimension as both camps are ready to confront each other on March 5, 2019.

It would be recalled that Senator lbikunle Amosun few days ago warned Nigeria Labour Congress not to hold a scheduled National Protest in the state. He told them to steer clear of the state if they had to embark on any protest and went ahead to vow to deal with them if they failed to heed his warning.

In his reply in a release, the NLC National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba stated they were not threatened by the statement credited to the Governor, insisting they were going on with the National Protest as scheduled.

The release signed by Ogun state Chairman, Comrade Ambali reads: The attention of the Ogun State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC ) has been drawn to the public threat to *organised labour* led by Comrade Ayuba Wabba on a *National Protest* schedule to hold next week Tuesday 5th March, 2019 in Ogun State as a desperate move by a Government I whose *lies and propangada has been exposed*.

The sudden vituperations by Senator Ibikunle Amosun betrayed his inability to handle industrial labour relations maturely in line with global practices. Labour wish to state that the empty threats and denial of evident diversion of : you
1) *Bail Out funds* by the Federal Government and Paris Funds Refund which was meant for the payment of backlog of unpaid deductions such as Cooperative Deductions , shilling funds ,ileya and Xmas savings of Ogun State Workers running into billions of Naira

6) Labour therefore wish to counsel Ogun State Government that instead of resulting to blackmail , intimidation and brigandary to oppress workers it will be more honourable to adopt a mature approach of dialogue with Labour before Tuesday 5th March to resolve these issues as no man has a monopoly of Power and Wisdom most especially when this immunity will expire within the next three months

7/ Ogun State indigenes does not want to be tagged as citizens of State notorious of disparaging, insulting Elders , National and Global Leaders but mature , civilized and intelligently led people

6) We wish to notify all Security Agencies to be more vigilant and provide security covers to all Labour Leaders to prevent their Assassination before, during and after the Mother of All Protest coming up next week Tuesday

7) Finally Ogun State NLC wishes to state that since Governor Amosun was already aware of the postponement of the Peaceful Rally to Tuesday 5th March his *Macho man interview* today on some radio station is unnecessary.

Conclusively we reiterate that the Protest will go as planned on Tuesday 5th, March hence we call on *All Courageous Ogun State Workers* ,Retirees, Veterans and Labour Leaders to come out en mass to join all Labour Leaders to condemn and force Ogun State Government to change this Anti Labour Policies and Programmes .Let’s show that No Government will succeed in Crippling Labour …
