Chief Tolu Odebiyi who clinched the Senatorial seat of Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun state at the Nigeria’s General elections held on Saturday February 22, 2019 has thanked the electorate for casting their votes for him.
In his short release he said, “It is with a humble heart and gratitude to God Almighty that I accept the result of my election to represent the good people of Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Odebiyi expressed what he described as his undying gratitude to the people of Ogun West for their practical demonstration of love as we campaigned for this election and for their indubitable and preferential choice for me being validated here today.
“To the people of Ado Odo Ota please accept my thanks.
To the people of Yewa North I am so grateful
To the people of Yewa South, I cannot thank you enough
To the people of Imeko Afon my heart thanks you deeply
To the people of Ipokia, I will am very grateful”, he thanked them all.
The Senator-elect also thanked all the officials who conducted this election on behalf of the INEC and commended them all for their dedication and patriotism in the face of unprecedented inducements and temptations challenging a free and fair outcome.
He stated, “this victory is dedicated to all those who have endured indignities but remained principled on behalf of the people of Ogun West. Please be assured that I will continue to stand with you shoulder to shoulder in raising higher the flag of progress and prosperity for the people of Ogun West. Once again, thank you all and God bless”.
Chief Tolu Odebiyi is a popular son of Iboro, in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, He holds a B.Sc in Building Construction and Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America.
He is the Managing Director of Agbara Estates Limited, a development, and investment company with over N20 billion in assets.
At a time, he was also the Managing Partner of Travant Real Estate, a boutique real estate firm with a focus on residential and commercial developments, private equity investment, and advisory services. In recognition of his skills and competencies, Odebiyi was selected to serve as a member of the think-tank Transition Committee on Housing in Ogun State in 2003. He was also a Member of the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission.
Those who know Odebiyi well say he has an unquenchable passion and urge for poverty alleviation and that he has been involved in various philanthropic programmes among the people in his native land in Yewa in order to elevate their lives.His pet project, Alajobi, was set up in 2011 and it is strictly dedicated to promoting the Yewa governorship aspiration.
Alajobi is a philanthropic organization, which was given birth to, to take care of the needy by a benevolent leader, genuinely and truly caring for the interest of both the leaders and the led. The organization has members cut across different political groupings: APC, PDP, LP, UPN, SDP, and others.
The idea behind the formation of the organization was to make a big difference in the lives of the people of Yewa in particular and Ogun State in general and by extension exposing, enlightening and empowering and taking them to greater heights Odebiyi’s late father’s legacies and closeness to the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona is an added advantage to his ambition.
Chief Tolu Odebiyi is the son of late Senator Jonathan Akinremi Olawole Odebiyi, a Nigerian educator, businessman and politician who was a Member of the Western House of Assembly during the independence era and later became Regional Minister of Education,(1956-1957) and Finance,(1957-1962).
Tolu Odebiyi’s late mother was Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Odebiyi, a former member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). She was the Lagos State INEC Commissioner between 1999 and 2007, before her elevation as an INEC National Commissioner by President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was her primary school classmate at African Church School, Ita Iyalode, Abeokuta.
He was until his Senatorial ambition the Chief of Staff to Governor of Ogun state, Senator,lbikunle Amosun. Tolupe is happily married and the marriage is blessed with children.
